Pelaverga Verduno DOC

Pelaverga Piccolo 

With great aromatic qualities, and a delicate color, and the wine is light and refreshing. Dark red fruits like pomegranate and morello cherry are balanced by a dark floral spice with notes of cinnamon and pepper. A light to medium bodied wine with low tannins, good acidity, and a delicate but long finish.

Points of Interest

San Biaigio is the sole historic Pelaverga Verduno producer with vineyards in the La Morra village. They have produced this wine since the 70s. According to Ian D’Agata, in speaking to a class in 2023, there are 30 hectares in the DOC planted to Pelaverga, 25.18ha in Verduno, 3.96ha in Roddi d’Alba, and 1.62ha in La Morra (almost exclusively San Biagio). If you can find a bottle, buy a bottle!

“Ad Majora”

Nebbiolo Langhe DOC

Nebbiolo

Ripe but balanced with purity of fruit flavors, wild boysenberry, cherry, and red plum. A medium-bodied wine with the right combination of tannin and approachable fruit. An elegant expression of Nebbiolo.

Points of Interest

Aged in old French tonneau (500-700 L) for 8 months before bottling with at least 6 months in bottle before release, this wine is sourced from the Capolot MGA area that is high in elevation and very rocky, in the village of La Morra. Two hectares of estate fruit are used to make 1,000 cases of this high-quality wine of great value.

Barolo Capalot

Nebbiolo 

The wine is bright and perfumed with crushed berries and flowers, followed by earthy aromatics of forest floor, wood, leather, and balsamic. The palate has a high-toned but elegant structure with chewy tannins and a long finish that grows with time in the bottle.

Points of Interest

With 6-7 weeks on the skins, this slow maturation process brings out the details in this lovely wine. Aged for 18 months in neutral French tonneau barrels followed by an additional 12 months in larger Slavonia oak before bottling. High on the slope north of the village of La Morra, most of this ideal growing site was planted in the 60s.

Barolo Sorano

Nebbiolo

Austere, complex, and ethereal with aromas of chocolate, berries, and earthy spices. The nose is followed by a full-bodied palate with firm tannins and a classic, powerful finish. Decanting will help relax the tannins.

Source from one of their newest vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, the Sorano MGA is aged in Slavonian oak casks for 30-36 months with a minimum of 1 year in bottle before release. More iron-rich and less fertile than the Tortonian soils typical of La Morra, the grapes express a powerful wine from just 1 hectare planted in 2002, 400 cases produced.

Bricco San Biagio

Their Iconic wine with alluring bright red fruits, rose, and spice unfolding on the nose. Polished tannins coat the palate, expressing juicy cherry, rhubarb, cacao, licorice, tobacco, and leather. A pleasing finish that develops with age.

Points of Interest

Aged in large Slavonia oak casks for 3 years, this is the flagship wine of the estate because their history is based in the vineyard where the family home and winery are located. Very rich in polyphenols, these grapes are exposed to the southeast at an altitude of 1,000 feet in elevation, extending to the doorstep of the family winery and home. 4 hectares, cultivated in 3 parts, the main parcel was planted in 1965.

Nebbiolo 

A lush and elegant wine with flowers and ripe fruit, chocolate, hazelnut, and balsamic. Round tannins with a pleasing texture, this cuvee stands out for the freshness of its bouquet and the ethereal overtones that increase with aging.

Points of Interest

An historic place recorded in the municipal land-registry of 1477 as one of the very finest wine growing sites in the area. Aged in neutral 700L Tonneau with thick staves to slow the oxidation for the first 18 months, and then for 1 year in medium-sized Slavonian oak casks. This small parcel was planted in 1997, on the steep, east facing slope of La Morra, 250 cases produced.
