Gustave Vinet acquired the family’s first holdings, Domaine de la Quilla, in 1948 in the village of La Haye-Fouassière, just nine miles from the Atlantic coast. Today his son, Gérard along with his wife Laurence, farm the diverse terroirs of the appellation, spread among the communes of La Haye Fouassière and Château Thébaud. The Vinet family are farming and studying the various soil types of the appellation and translating them into distinctive wines with extended lees contact. The “Clos de la Houssaie” is the crown jewel of the estate sourced from a single enclosed 0.7 hectare vineyard, the most historic vineyard in the entire appellation, aged for two years on the lees before bottling and 5 years before release. Certified HVE and Terra Vitis, sustainable.
