CORTE VOLPONI
Negrar VR, Italy (Valpolicella)

Ripasso
Valpolicella Superiore

70% Corvinone & Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Croatina

100% authentically Italian, the Ripasso style is very popular here in America because of its lush fruity character, layers of spice, and compelling herbal notes. This is many newcomers favorite introduction to Italian wine and the Corte Volponi Ripasso is a exemplary example. Bright red fruits and spice give way to more wild, dried flavors of plum and herbs on the palate and through the finish. A med/full bodied wine with approachable tannins and a refreshing vibrant finish.

Points of Interest

Ripasso means to “repass”. For this style, freshly made wine is poured back into the tank with the dried grape skins leftover after the production of the Amarone. These dried skins create a short secondary fermentation increasing alcohol by about 0.5 % and adding depth and complexity to the everyday wines of the Valpolicella. A must try for exploring the great wines of the world!!
Amarone
Valpolicella Classico DOCG

40% Corvinone, 35% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta

Amarone is one of the most prized wines in all of Italy, known as a “Wine of Meditation” meant to be experienced to the fullest like a grand concert being performed on your palate. Concentrated juice from dried grapes can lead to a jammy style of wine but this Amaorne comes from a high elevation vineyard in the classic zone and strikes a balance with beautiful earthy notes and a long complex finish.

Points of Interest

The Classic zone of the Valpolicella is one of the most famous wine regions in the world, know for a style of wine utilizing dried grapes and dating back to the ancient Greeks. This historic place and style is highlighted in this wine by a very traditional, small-production approach from brothers Fabio and Paolo Zenato. Long drying times, years in barrel, and much skill and patience creates a magical experience.
