Summary: Brother and sister team, Mauro and Alessandra Mauri, express their shared winemaking philosophy through a strictly limited range of low-production wines and a handful of key wine-making concepts. They strategically focus on native Friuli grapes and the terroir of Friuli, something they have come to know and love. The high standards at Borgo San Daniele are based on irrevocable rules of practice which begin in the vineyard with high density planting, low plant vigor, and sustainable farming practices. This results in well balanced, thoroughly integrated wines that truly display Mauro and Alessandra's passion for their vineyards and wines that they produce.

Vinification: Grape crush is followed by maceration on the skins at natural temperatures for 8 hours. Then soft pressing occurs, followed by temperature controlled fermentation. Sur Lies (with the dormant yeast and residual sugars) barrel aging for 25% of the wine in 2000 liter Slavonian oak until late spring. Assemblage and unfiltered bottling at the end of summer.

Aromas & Flavors: Wild flowers and hints of candied orange peel are prevalent on the nose. Ripe white stone fruits give way to moderate acidity on the palate, with a light sweet almond finish.

Varietal Notes:

Friulano, with it's pale straw-yellow color, carries an enticing hint of wildflowers and pears. It is a very approachable wine that offers complex herb and citrus notes, with a delicately balanced acidity that heightens the flavors and gives it a long, clean finish.
